Who We Are

The Alamo STEM Ecosystem cultivates a robust community STEM/STEAM mindset with a focus on equity.

we are in network with

STEM Learning Ecosystems

A STEM Learning Ecosystem encompasses schools, community settings such as after-school and summer programs, science centers and museums, and informal experiences at home and in a variety of environments that together constitute a rich array of learning opportunities for young people. A learning ecosystem harnesses the unique collaborations of all these different settings in symbiosis to deliver STEM learning for all children. The Alamo STEM Ecosystem is an active, cross-sector partnership working to bridge youth, community, and the workforce in San Antonio, Texas.

Visit the STEM Ecosystems site for more information.

Dr. Raul “Rudy” Reyna established the Alamo STEM Ecosystem in 2010, first known as the San Antonio STEM Council. The ASE was based on acceptance into the International STEM Learning Ecosystem in 2018, as a partner with Mexico’s national Movimiento STEM. Since 2018, the ASE has led networking, conferences, programs, and numerous San Antonio-area efforts to bring together STEM initiatives community wide to advocate for STEM. We help engage students and prepare educators in STEM, and build cross-sector collaborations between K-12, colleges, industry, government, and nonprofits. ASE is an organization whose leadership is rotated among different STEM based organizations within the community and is not tied to anuy one organization.

A Word

From Our Co-Lead

” Welcome to our ASE community! We are a diverse group of stakeholders with a common vision- to see our STEM/STEAM community align our efforts to best serve our city and bridge youth, community and workforce. We do this work collectively, adding our own areas of expertise with an equity lens to ensure all students and families have equitable access and opportunities in STEM. “
